After Erik van Loon’s successful test in Morocco, he goes to Qatar to help South Racing further develop the Can-Am Maverick R. Anja van Loon will also start to warm up for the Dakar Rally in January, she will drive the Can-Am Maverick X3. Finishing is the goal for both and mileage is important.

Erik looks forward to getting back into the Can-Am: “It really is a great car to drive. South Racing has completely patched it up again after Morocco, including installing a new engine. Because the car is built according to the new regulations, we drive a separate test class, just like in Morocco. It is therefore important for us to drive as many kilometers as possible and collect data for the team.”
For Anja it will be the first introduction to the rally in Qatar: “I know it’s a very fast rally where dust and stones always play an important role. So I want to do what I do best and that is drive consistently by taking as little risk as possible. It’s been a while since I drove the Can-Am, but I get used to that quickly. We are going for a good rally without any problems and so on to warm up a bit to the Dakar Rally.”
The Baja in Qatar starts on Thursday, October 31 with a prologue of 10 kilometers. On Friday there are two tests on the program with a total distance of 244 kilometers. On Saturday, four shorter tests are planned with a total length of 250 kilometers.
